About the Assessment

What is a qEEG brain scan?

A quantitative electroencephalogram, or qEEG, uses computer analysis to examine electrical activity recorded by EEG sensors placed on the scalp. It is often called brain mapping.

The assessment focuses on brainwave patterns rather than taking a picture of the brain's physical structure. Findings need to be interpreted alongside your health history and an appropriate clinical evaluation.

01

Non-invasive recording

Electrodes rest on the scalp to record the electrical signals produced by the brain.

02

Brainwave information

Recorded signals are analyzed to help display patterns of electrical activity.

03

Results in context

A brain map is one source of information, not a replacement for a complete medical evaluation.

What to Expect

A clear path from questions to next steps.

Speak with our team about the assessment process and what your visit would involve.

Step 01

Start a conversation

Discuss your concerns, health history, and what you would like to understand.

Step 02

Prepare for your visit

Confirm whether an assessment is appropriate and ask about preparation instructions.

Step 03

Record brain activity

If recommended, scalp sensors are used to collect the EEG recording.

Step 04

Discuss the findings

Review the results, their limitations, and any appropriate next steps with your provider.

Personalized Insight

Better understand patterns of brain activity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about brain mapping?

Our team can explain the assessment and help you decide what to ask before your visit.

Contact our team →
What does a qEEG measure?

A qEEG analyzes electrical activity recorded from the scalp. It provides information about brainwave patterns rather than a photograph of the brain.

Is the recording invasive?

No. Sensors are placed on the scalp to record naturally occurring electrical activity. The procedure does not require surgery or injections.

Can a brain map replace a medical evaluation?

No. Brain mapping provides one source of information and should be interpreted together with your health history, symptoms, and appropriate clinical evaluation.

Does qEEG use radiation?

No. qEEG records electrical signals produced by the brain and does not use ionizing radiation.
